Travel rules in Georgia

Before you travel

  • Entry requirements depend on your nationality. Check the current rules for your passport with the official Georgian authorities before you travel.
  • Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months.
  • A return ticket and a hotel booking are recommended; border officers may ask about the purpose of your trip, the length of your stay or your financial means.
  • Valid travel insurance for your whole stay is strongly recommended.

Public rules in Georgia

  • Cross the street only at pedestrian crossings, bridges or underpasses; crossing elsewhere can be fined.
  • Littering in public places or at tourist sites is fined.
  • Drinking alcohol outdoors in public places such as streets, parks and beaches is not allowed.
  • Noise and disruptive behaviour in public places are offences.
  • Cooperating with the police and answering security questions politely is required.
  • Photographing some government and security buildings is prohibited.

Check-in and check-out

  • Check-in is usually from 14:00 and check-out by 12:00.
  • Late check-out is charged extra.

In your room

  • Smoking inside rooms is strictly prohibited; the fine is 100 to 300 GEL.
  • Pets are allowed only in hotels that accept them.
  • Damage to the room or its furnishings is charged.

Hotel facilities

  • Please use shared areas calmly and respectfully.
  • Some hotels do not allow food from outside.
  • Keep valuables in the in-room safe.

  • Quiet hours start at 23:00.
  • Extra guests may not enter a room without registering at reception.
  • Appropriate clothing is expected in the hotel's public areas.
